Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy – pursuant to art. 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679

The following document provides users with transparent information on the use of cookies on the website www.cafoscarishop.it (hereinafter “Site”) in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament, Legislative Decree no. 196/2003 (Italian Personal Data Protection Code), and in pursuance of the Italian Data Protection Authority   Simplified Arrangements to Provide Information and Obtain Consent Regarding Cookies – 8 may 2014.

This document includes the “Note on the processing of personal data” which can be found here  which users should refer to for information regarding the processing of personal data collected by means of the cookies used by the Site.

Definition of “cookies”

Cookies are short text strings sent from the Site and stored by the browser of the device used (computers, tablets, smartphones) and contain information to be reused during the same visit to the site or a future visit. Cookies are stored on the basis of user preferences and can be used to collect information on user behaviour and choices and on the use of the services.

Cookies are safe – they can only store the information that is inserted into the browser, regarding access to the browser or information included in the web page requested by the user. Cookies cannot transform into codes and cannot be used to access the user’s device. If a website encrypts cookie information, only that website can read such information.

There are two types of cookies:

  • Technical or session cookies. These cookies are generally necessary for the correct functioning of the site and to enable browsing. Without these cookies, users may not be able to visualise web pages correctly or use certain services. For example, technical cookies allow users to maintain a connection to the website during the browsing experience, and allow websites to remember choices users have made in the past, such as their language preferences.Technical can be subdivided in:
    • strictly necessary cookies: these cookies are essential for users to browse the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the site (for example, these cookies allow web shops to hold items in the cart while users are shopping online);
    • preference/functionality cookies: these cookies allow websites to remember choices users have made in the past, such as their language preferences or the items users have placed in a shopping cart;
    • statistics/performance cookies: these cookies collect information about how users use a website, such as which pages users visit and which links users click on. None of this information can be used to identify users. It is all aggregated and, therefore, anonymised;
    • marketing cookies: these cookies track the online activity of users to help advertisers deliver more relevant advertising.
  • Profiling and marketing cookies. These are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously and non) user preferences and to improve their browsing experience by creating specific profiles and they are used to send advertising messages in line with the choices made by the user whilst browsing online.
    • session cookies: these cookies are temporary and expire once users close their browsers;
    • persistent cookies: unlike session cookies, persistent cookies remain on the browser for a set period of time. All persistent cookies have an expiration date written into their code, but their duration can vary. They are used to recognise the device that connects to the website and facilitate user authentication;
    • first-party cookies: these cookies are generated and managed by the website accessed by the user;
    • third-party cookies: these cookies are generated and managed by a third party, not by the website accessed by the user.

Which cookies do we use?

This Site uses technical cookies aimed at ensuring the correct functionality of the Site and a safe and efficient browsing experience. In some web pages, persistent cookies are used, which remain even after the browser is closed (unlike session cookies) and which, in any case, are not employed to track the user and the user’s browsing activity. Cookies serve the purpose of ensuring an improved browsing experience; they do not create user profiles nor collect any data and are automatically removed – therefore, they do not require authorisation. When users log in, their IP address is automatically used for the current session and is then automatically deleted when the session ends.

Users have control over the memorisation of technical cookies in browsers and devices.

The Site does not use profiling cookies or other tracking technology.

The Site uses third-party cookies provided by Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. which sends cookies to user devices. The data collected does not identify the user, but is used to gain statistical information on website navigation, such as the pages visited, the average time on page, the browser employed, and geographic location.

On this Site, Google Analytics has been set up to anonymise the IP address of the user.

Should users wish to disable the use of cookies and prevent Google Analytics from collecting browsing data, they can download the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on and install it in their web browser: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on Download Page

Cookie management: blocking and eliminating cookies

The website www.aboutcookies.org offers information regarding cookie management based on the user’s browser.

When more than one device is used and in different locations, users should ensure that browsers are set up in keeping with their preferences.
Browsers enable users to visualise the cookies that are in their device and eliminate them partially or entirely.

When technical cookies are partially or completely disabled, the areas of the Site which are reserved to registered users may not function correctly. On the contrary, public content on the Site is accessible even when cookies are completely disabled.

When third-party cookies are partially or completely disabled, the browsing experience is not compromised in any way.

Each browser has different procedures to disable cookies.
